Stera Technologies Oy and Lainisalo Defence Painting Oy have signed a letter of intent to initiate strategic and long-term cooperation. The agreement covers extensive collaboration between the Stera Group and the Lainisalo Group. The cooperation will materialize especially through the industrial surface treatment plant that will be built within Stera’s Kaarina factory facilities.
Both companies operate in Finland and Estonia, making the cooperation natural in this respect as well.
The surface treatment plant invested in by Lainisalo Defence Painting Oy specializes primarily in wet-painting services, and its modern technical features are designed to meet, among others, the highest surface treatment requirements of the defence industry. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in summer 2026 and will employ more than 20 people at its peak.
Jussi Ohlsson, CEO of Stera Technologies Oy, describes the start of cooperation as important for the development of Stera’s business. In addition to surface treatment services, Stera is currently building welding operations at the Kaarina factory. In the first phase, the welding department will employ approximately 20 welding professionals. Stera has already begun the recruitment process to find skilled workers for the Kaarina site.
Following the investment program, the service concept of the Kaarina factory will be ready to meet a wide range of customer needs. With welding, surface treatment, and final product assembly operating under the same roof, Stera’s Kaarina factory will offer a modern, competitive, and high-quality service concept.
Pertti Lainisalo, principal owner and CEO of Lainisalo Oy, considers the new agreement a highly significant strategic milestone for the entire Lainisalo Group. Lainisalo Defence Painting Oy is part of the Group’s new strategy, in which defence-industry operations are centralized into a new company. Thanks to the cooperation, the business will now expand strongly into the Turku economic region, where there is substantial demand for Lainisalo’s expertise. Lainisalo Defence Painting Oy will offer a wide range of research and product development services as well as subcontracted component painting.
